About Us

familyIn November 2008, on Third Friday, we opened our doors. We are located in wonderful Tarrytown, NY. We have been told that there has not been a toy store in Tarrytown for 25 years!! Many people ask me how I get my inventory. Some of it is from vendors, like Lego and Melissa & Doug. With that inventory I try to give a discount 10-20% from the retail prices.

For the other part of the business, my sons and I go out to tag sales and church sales to find toys that have never been opened. We also look for hard to find toys like Lego kits from 1995 and 1970s star wars figures. With these “used but never opened” toys I am able to sell them at 25% to 50% off retail. A brand new toy at ½ the price of normal stores retail prices. I also buy used toys, truly used. We call them pre-loved, they are always inspected and checked for recalls. They must be in excellent condition for me to buy them for the store. My last section of toys is my vintage section.

Here I will have the old fisher price toys, the houses, schools, airports, etc. Weeble wobbles, old Mickey Mouse collector items, original Smurf toys, collectable barbies and many more!

2009 was exciting because we were honored with the Westchester Family Favorite Independent Toy Store award!! We had only been opened 8 months!! We have had a wonderful time being part of the community. We collected toys at the holiday time for the one of the local family centers, wrapped them and gave them out at a breakfast with my sons. One of the best things we did all year was thanks to my oldest son, Logan.

After the holidays, Logan asked about all of those kids that we gave the Christmas presents to — what about their birthdays? He was right, many of these children did not get birthday presents. So, all of 2009 we collected toys for the same local family center to ensure each child got a birthday present in the month of their birthday!

We look forward to 2010. We hope it is as much fun as 2009 was!!
